Where are the events taking place?
The events will be taking place at the King Family Property at Goose Rocks Beach in Kennebunkport. All events will be taking place outdoors, with some events taking place under a tent.
What happens if it rains? or a question of weather
Well.... No need to worry. If it rains, the ceremony will take place beneath a tent.
Kennebunkport during August is normally around 70—80 degrees during the day. At night temperatures may fall to around 60 degrees.
May I bring a guest? May I bring my children?
Due to limited space, we are only able to accommodate those guests formally invited on your wedding invitation. If you received a plus one, this will be indicated on your invitation. If your children were invited, this will also be indicated on your invitation.
Will there be a coat check? A place to keep my belongings?
Yes. Immediately upon arrival for the wedding ceremony you will be directed to a coat and phone check.
Where should I stay? Is there a hotel block for the wedding?
The Kennebunkport area has a variety of wonderful places to stay. We acknowledge that our guests may want to stay in different areas, find different price points, and seek a range of experiences. We have compiled a list detailing some lodging recommendations on the Travel & Stay page, here.
If you are interested in staying at The Tides Beach Club or Hidden Pond please reach out to Jennifer King at jck@ruggedelegance.com, as we have special pricing available for our wedding guests.
Is there a COVID-19 Protocol?
We want our guests to feel safe and comfortable. We are closely monitoring CDC guidelines and local covid numbers and will decide if we will implement a testing strategy as dates get closer. At this time, we ask that guests do not attend if you are feeling sick or have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for covid in the week prior to the wedding. Additionally, we request that our guests are up to date on their vaccinations. If you have not received a vaccine or have further questions regarding our covid guidelines, please reach out via the message box at the end of this page.
Can I take photographs?
We will be having an "unplugged" ceremony. We ask that all phones and devices be put away and on silent during the ceremony. We have hired a photographer to capture this important moment for us. After the ceremony and at the other events, please feel free to take as many photographs as you would like.
Dressing Tips
We recommend bringing a light sweater or jacket as the temperatures may fall at night. Please note that these events will partially be taking place on a grass lawn. We suggest avoiding shoes which may sink in the grass, such as stiletto heels.
Is there a dress code for the picnic?
Yes, we request a semi-formal attire. Please avoid shorts, jeans, or athletic clothing. There is an option theme: "Crustacean Chic, Luxury Lobster." We hope this is an opportunity for our guests to be creative and have fun. Find further inspiration here.
Is there a dress code for the ceremony and reception?
Yes, we request a semi-formal attire. We ask that our guests abstain from dressing in white.
Thank you!
